  • Jan. 27th: Staff In-Service, no school
  • Feb. 10th: Middle School Valentine's Day Dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $1 with an ASB card and $2 without an ASB card.
  • Feb. 17th: Snow make up day

Field Trips:

  • Jan. 26th: Grades 6-8 level I and academic field trip to Riverfront Square and Imax from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  • Valley School's toll-free phone number is (855) 937-2413.
  • The main phone number for parents to reach the school office is: 937-2413.
  • The main phone number for parents to reach the VL Transport Center is: 937-4021.
  • Lower wing students are dismissed at 3:20 p.m. and upper wing students at 3:26 p.m.
  • Instructional time begins at 8:30 a.m. for all students in K-8 this year.
  • The early warning bell rings at 8:25 a.m. with all classes starting at 8:30 a.m.

Please Note:

  • Students who arrive early to school (prior to 8:05 a.m.) should report to the cafeteria rather than the resource room. Students are encouraged to bring books to read, homework assignments not yet completed, etc. Students will be release for either breakfast or outside recess at 8:05 a.m.
  • Students need a pair of gym-type shoes that are only to be worn inside and have non-marking soles for any activity they might do in the new gym. The time that students will most likely use the gym is during P.E. and sporting events.
  • Upper wing students are given grade checks every Friday. These grade checks should be taken home to parents along with a “missing assignments” list as needed from each class. Students should take their daily planners home every day.

Great American Smokeout

During the week of November 14th – 18th Valley School students participated in the Great American Smokeout, five days of fun-filled activities to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking. According to the American Cancer Society, tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the US.

Valley Girls Basketball Finishes Season in Style

For the last game of the season, the Valley School Girls’ Basketball team (7-2) faced off against Hunters, their undefeated rival. “There are no words to express the amount of heart that the girls had during this game,” said Coach, LaLee Link. “What an emotional end to an amazing season.”

Fifth Graders Aiming High

Students from Mr. Rindlisbacher’s fifth grade class gathered on the playfield wearing grins as they lugged their decorated “rockets” to the launch pad. Under different circumstances, most of what they used would be considered junk—two-liter bottles, plastic shopping bags, piping, and a modified bike pump. Despite the intermittent rain, other classes joined them to sit on the hill and cheer as each bottle sailed across the field. “It was awesome,” Anna Arquette said.

Five Generations of Valley School Students

Hailey Ann Klemish started preschool on Sept. 20th at the Valley School District Early Childhood Development Center, twenty feet from where her great, great grandmother graduated from the old white schoolhouse in 1926. Hailey (right) is the fifth generation of her family to be closely involved with the Valley School. Her great grandmother, Jackie Franks, graduated from Valley in 1949, and while her grandmother, Theresa Carr, didn’t graduate from Valley, she has worked as the Main Office Secretary for a number of years. Hailey’s dad, Jesse, and aunts and uncles also attended Valley and her mother, Caitie, works for the district.

Valley School Gets Children's Literacy Grant

Valley School is the proud recipient of the Page Ahead Grant! This amazing opportunity will provide every K-6 student with three free, grade-level appropriate books that will be distributed throughout the year. “I think it’s a great opportunity for our students,” said Valley School Curriculum Coach Wendy Farquharson. “We want our students to take these books home and continue to develop a love of reading.”

National Geographic Giant Map of Africa

Students at the Valley School explored Africa in a big way for a few weeks with the world’s largest map of the continent. Measuring 35 feet by 26 feet, the map is designed as a geo-game board to introduce students to the power of maps and the diverse geography of Africa. It was at Valley for three weeks (September 19th to October 7th), as part of National Geographic’s Giant Traveling Maps program.
